Question Answer
How many images can I submit?

Submit ONLY THE IMAGES TO BE USED IN THE DESIGN. While we can create a design with any number of sides, we suggest fighting the urge to include too many images in your design. Fewer, stronger, images will make more of an impact than loading-up your design with too many. We feel so strongly about this, that we have maximum numbers of images we will accept for a given number of sides. Please use these numbers as guidance.

  • 10 sides : up to 25 images
  • 20 sides : up to 50 images
  • 30 sides : up to 75 images
  • 40 sides : up to 100 images
  • 60 sides : up to 150 images
  • 80 sides : up to 200 images
  • 90 sides : up to 225 images
  • 100 sides : up to 250 images
How do I organize the files I'm sending to you?

It is important to follow a few important steps before sending your files to Silverback.

  1. The first is to organize your files in the order in which you want them to appear in your design. Then, you'll need to rename the files in the following way: 001.jpg, 002.jpg, 003.jpg, ... xxx.jpg. This removes any question of the order in which your images will appear in the design.
  2. Next, place the images in their own folder named in the following way:
    xxxx-YourStudioName
where 'xxxx' is the invoice number from your order in our shopping cart,
and 'YourStudioName' is your actual studio's name.
DO NOT PLACE IMAGES IN SUB-FOLDERS!!!!
  3. Zip the folder ('Compress' on Macs).
  4. Go to our Album Image Upload page and follow the instructions.

Please note that work will not begin on your order until you have placed an Album Design Service order through our Shopping Cart, submitted our Album Design Order Form, and uploaded your properly named and organized image files.

How do I get my image files to you?

After placing your order for album design services and completing our Album Design Order Form you will be directed to a page containing the link you need to click to upload your files to us. No FTP account is needed.

Or, you may send your images on disk or flash drive and ship them to:

Silverback Imaging and Design

How do I submit an order for both Post-Production and Album Design services?

The great thing about being a Silverback customer is that we can take many different types of work off your plate. If you know which images you want in an album design, but haven’t done the work to make them look fabulous, we can do the work for you. Then, we can create the layout containing those images. Here’s how it would work:

  1. Sign up to use our service if you haven't already done so.
  2. Make your final album image selections.
  3. Place an order for the post-production and album design services you need through our shopping cart.
  4. Using the SilverBack folder structure, submit the images. We will color-correct, convert to black and white, artistically enhance, and retouch the images to your specifications. Be sure to include a copy of your shopping cart invoice with your image submission.
  5. We will put the adjusted images in an online gallery for you to view and approve.
  6. Once we get your approval on the image work, we will begin your album design.
  7. We will present the design to you for approval, and WE’RE DONE!

You will receive high resolution JPEG files of your page spreads. If you’d like to get an AsukaBook we can handle that for you as well. In that case, after you approve the layout design, we would place your AsukaBook order for you. The next thing you know, the UPS is ringing your doorbell. How sweet is that!

Can I submit additional images to be used as background only?

You may submit up to 5 additional images to be used as background only. Please label these files accordingly. Note that not all of these images may be used in design.

What type of files do you accept?

If you want Silverback to perform the color correction and other enhancements to your files, you must submit RAW files only. If you have done the work to the files and they are in final album form you may submit JPEG, Photoshop (.psd), or TIFF (Photoshop compatible) files at a minimum of 300 ppi.

What color profile should the image files be?

All images must have the same and EMBEDED color profile of AdobeRGB(1998) or sRGB - greyscale, untagged or any other profile is not accepted.

Should I crop, color convert, or apply any enhancements to the images before submitting?

If you do not want Silverback to prepare the image files for the album design, you must insure that all images are fully retouched and color corrected prior to submission. You may crop or convert (e.g., black & white, duotone) your images before submission. In this scenario, Silverback will not adjust the image files. They will be included in the album design just as you have submitted them.

However, part of the beauty of our service is that we can do that work for you. If you do want Silverback to color correct, convert to black and white, artistically enhance, and/or retouch your files prior to creating the album design, we will be happy to do so at our normal à la carte prices. The cost for these services will be in addition to the album design service cost.

How long does the design process take?

If you color correct and retouch the images prior to submission, our normal turn-around time is 10 business days from receipt of files. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you upon receipt of your files.

If Silverback color corrects and retouches the images for you prior to creating your design, there will be an extra 8-10 business days to perform this work prior to beginning your album design.

So, the process could take 18-20 business days if we do all of the work for you and there are no requests from you to revise the design.

Do I have any design input?

Suggestions are certainly welcome. You may include a sample of a preferred design style along with your order form.

Can I view the layout before it is sent to print?

Yes. A low-resolution pdf document of your layout will be made available for review.

Can I make revisions to the layout?

Yes. The design fee includes up to three (3) FREE side changes. Additional changes beyond the first three (3) will incur an extra charge.

How long does the revision process take?

Once the revision request is received, a new pdf document will be made available within four (4) business days.

What is a side revision?

A side revision includes any of the following:

  • remove, add or replace image
  • remove, add or replace text
  • remove, add or replace graphic elements
  • redesign a side
  • color conversion of an image
  • adjust opacity level of an image
  • resize an image
When will the files be sent to print?

Once the layout has been approved, the files will be finalized and sent to you or AsukaBook within 3 business days. A confirmation email will be sent to you upon finalization.

How long will my files be kept?

We will retain your files for a period of 90 days. After that time, they will be purged from our system.

What type of payment do you accept?

Our shopping cart accepts VISA, MasterCard, and Discover Card.

What is a side?

A leaf or one side of a leaf, as of a book, letter, newspaper, or manuscript.

Is there a difference between a side and a page?

No, there is not. A book has two sides or two pages.

Do I need to fill out an order form?

Yes. Simply complete and submit our Album Design Order Form, then upload your image files directly to us.

There are two forms, one for AsukaBook and another for the album binder of your choice. Please be sure to use the correct form for your situation. You will find the forms in the "Forms" section of the sidebar in our store after you sign-in to your account.
